Market 08/17: Bond yields hit peak causing fears

China requires some funds to stop shorting stocks as stocks approach key support level

Global bond yields reach highest level in 15 years

Global government bond yields rose to 3.3% on Wednesday, the highest since August 2008. Bonds have caused investors to lose 1.2% this year, becoming the worst-performing asset class.

Higher US yields continue to attract buyers, with longer-term bonds underperforming (2Y +2bps, 10Y +6bps).

30-year bond yield rises 7 basis points to 4.42%, highest since October last year.

Initial jobless claims ease slightly last week
